First Ethic Course Attempt of Veterinary Medicine Education in Ottoman Period

Constitutional Monarchy (1908), periodicals on literature, science and philosophy and the increase in the publication of translation and copyright works are noteworthy. In this period, Suphi Ethem lectured "Natural History" lessons "Botany" and "Geology" courses and worked on many branches such as zoology, botany, biology, chemistry, anthropology, sociology, philology, history, philosophy, history of science, history of literature. In this study, it was aimed to examine Suphi Ethem"s booklet named "Musahabelerim" which was published by the Ulum Tabi"iye and İçtimaiye Library in 1917. A copy of the 32 - pages booklet obtained from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Atatürk Library"s "Municipal Ottoman Books Collection" made transcription and translated by summarizing into today"s Turkish language. The content of the booklet was evaluated within the framework of the information of the era and today. As a result, it can be said that the subject of ethics was first included in military veterinary medical education in 1917 in Ottoman era.
